Format: Approximately 90 minutes, online, proctored, no negative marking. Roughly 50 questions across the cognitive sections in traditional drives, plus the technical sections.
What they test: Reasoning under time pressure, English comprehension, and breadth of computer-science fundamentals rather than depth in any one area.

- Answer a comprehension question on a short business passage.
- Select the correct spreadsheet formula or feature for a described task.

Because there is no negative marking in the cognitive assessment, leaving an answer blank scores the same as a wrong one. Attempt everything.
Stage 2: Coding Assessment
Format: A short coding round accepting C, C++, Java, Python and .NET. Some reported drives use three questions, with a split such as one HTML/CSS task, one JavaScript task and one problem-solving task; others use straight algorithmic problems. The Advanced ASE track sets a noticeably higher difficulty bar than the standard ASE gate.
What they test: Working fluency in one language, correct handling of edge cases, and whether you can finish a problem rather than start several.

Stage 3: Communication Assessment
Format: The Versant automated spoken-English test, taken with a headset, roughly 20–25 prompts in about 30 minutes. Scoring is fully automated.
What they test: Listening accuracy, sentence construction and clarity of speech — not accent, and not vocabulary breadth.
The reported sections are:
- Sentence Reading — read printed sentences aloud.
- Repeat — listen to a spoken sentence and repeat it back exactly.

Candidates who underperform here consistently report losing marks in the Repeat and Sentence Build sections rather than in open speaking. Both depend on holding a sentence in working memory under time pressure, which is a trainable skill and the single most overlooked part of Accenture preparation.
Stage 4: Technical and HR Interview
Format: One combined round with a panel of one or two interviewers, conducted virtually in most reported drives. Candidates frequently describe the tone as conversational rather than adversarial, with a mix weighted toward HR and project discussion and only two or three technical questions.
What they test: Whether you can explain your own work clearly, whether your fundamentals are real rather than memorised, and whether you will fit a client-delivery environment with shift and relocation requirements.
Typical questions reported by candidates:
- Walk me through your final-year project — what did you build, and what was your specific contribution?
- Explain the core features of object-oriented programming.
- What is the difference between a constructor and a destructor?
- What are the ON DELETE options available on a database table, and which is the default?
- Why Accenture, and are you comfortable relocating or working in shifts?
Other reported areas include process versus thread, basic SQL query writing, and follow-up questions that push on the technology choices you made in your project. Expect the interviewer to go one layer deeper than your first answer.
What Interviewers Look For
- Ownership of your own project. Panels probe for the line between what you built and what your team built. Vague answers here are the most common technical failure in reported interviews.
- Fundamentals you can explain, not recite. Definitions are the opening; the follow-up is where the assessment happens.
- Clear, unhurried communication. Accenture is a client-facing delivery business, and this is weighted more heavily than at product companies.
- Flexibility on location, shift and technology stack. Willingness to be deployed where the work is, is a genuine selection criterion.

- Prepare pseudo code deliberately, not incidentally. It is the section most candidates skip and the one sitting inside the elimination round. Work through output-prediction problems until reading unfamiliar pseudo code is automatic.
- Train listening, not speaking, for the Versant test. Practise repeating spoken sentences verbatim and rebuilding jumbled sentences aloud. This directly targets where candidates lose marks.
- Build a two-minute and a five-minute version of your project story. Lead with the problem, your specific contribution, the technology choice and why you made it, then the outcome. Have a deeper layer ready for every claim.
- Answer every cognitive question. There is no negative marking. An unattempted question is a guaranteed zero where a guess is not.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Over-indexing on competitive programming. The coding round is not the gate, and grinding hard algorithm problems at the expense of aptitude and pseudo code inverts the actual risk.
- Assuming a fixed stage order. The Communication Assessment appears at different points across reported drives. Turning up unprepared for it because you expected it later is avoidable.
- Claiming a project you cannot defend. Listing a group project or a tutorial build as your own collapses quickly under two follow-up questions.
- Treating the HR half as a formality. Relocation, shift work and technology flexibility are real screening questions in a delivery organisation, and hesitant or evasive answers register.
